Tufting Accident Injures Mill Worker

Chatsworth, GA, Dec. 1, 2009--A worker has been injured in an accident at a carpet mill in Chatsworth, according to media reports.

A Murray County 9-1-1 dispatcher told a Chattanooga television station that the unidentified man was caught in a tufting machine at Marquis Carpet Mills.

The accident happened Monday and the injured man was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.  The extent of injuries is not known, nor has the condition of the man been released.

Tufting machines at carpet mills punch yarn into primary backing to create the face of the carpet at a very fast pace, in order to manufacture carpet.
