Tufenkian Carpets Opens Dallas and Houston Showroo

Houston, Texas, December 8, 2006--Tufenkian Artisan Carpets has opened its first Texas showrooms in Dallas and Houston. The expansion into the Texas market adds to Tufekian’s growing national presence with existing showrooms in New York, Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon. Designed by Clodagh, the showrooms feature all of Tufenkian’s signature display elements, which draw upon the style and simplicity of its artisan heritage while creating a contemporary, interactive shopping experience for today’s discerning design connoisseurs. Now open, Tufenkian’s new 2,800 square foot Dallas showroom is located at 150 Turtle Creek Boulevard, Suite 102. The stunning space adjoins celebrated designer Allan Knight’s main showroom through a connecting door. Allan Knight and Tufenkian combine product to showcase each of their collections as fully-styled vignettes. The showroom’s beautiful setting on Turtle Creek Boulevard makes it readily accessible to the city’s interior designers and design-savvy consumers. Opening January 2007, Tufenkian’s Houston Showroom is located in the heart of the city’s decorative center at 5120 Woodway Suite 3029. The new showroom is 3,400 square feet and will be the only place in Houston to purchase Tufenkian rugs. Marjorie Darmitzel is the Showroom Director for both Texas showrooms and will be in charge of operations in both locations. Marjorie and other members of Tufenkian’s staff have begun working with the design community in Houston and are thrilled to have access to all of the brand’s stunning carpets. Some of their recent favorites from Tufenkian include Arak Rosewood, Barbara Barry’s new Arching Lattice in Espresso, and Soumakh Navereh Lakewood. Both Texas showrooms are designed by Clodagh. The rich use of color and texture provide a dramatic backdrop for Tufenkian’s signature and patented carpet display sliding rack system, which allows full sized carpets to be perused with the push of a finger. Clients may also utilize the “T-Gallery,” Tufenkian’s proprietary state-of-the-art custom program, to create their own custom rugs. Though showrooms are open only to the trade, individual consumers are always welcome, and Tufenkian offers a comprehensive designer referral service to assist customers with their selections. For over two decades, Tufenkian has virtually redefined the traditional handmade carpet and in the process revived an ancient crafts movement on the edge of extinction. In creating the concept of “designer handmades,” Tufenkian united skilled, old-world hand work with the design needs of fine, contemporary homes. Tufenkian’s acclaimed product line is comprised of the Designer’s Reserve Collection, the Core Tibetan Collection, and the Armenian collection. The Designer’s Reserve consists of carpets developed exclusively for Tufenkian by famed designers including Barbara Barry, Kevin Walz, William Georgis and Vincente Wolf, as well as James Tufenkian himself. The Core Tibetan Collection includes four distinctive style programs including from Modern, Tufenkian Traditional, Arts & Crafts, and Primitive Chic. The Armenian Collection by Tufenkian includes four different programs, which range from traditional, delicate and refined to bold, archetypal designs, as well as more modern Armenian rugs designed by Clodagh. The Tufenkian Group of Companies is a collection of separate enterprises based upon a common goal – to create luxury products that enrich the lives of those who make them and the communities in which they live. By producing the highest quality, couture products and services – from hand-knotted carpets to luxurious hotels to fine epicurean products – each Tufenkian business is committed to excellence, profitability and returning that profit to the community from which it came.
