Trump Administration May Lower Proposed Tariff Rate, Says WSJ
Washington, DC, September 17, 2018-Trump officials appear to be trying to balance the president’s desire to squeeze China with concerns about hurting U.S. consumers reliant on cheap Chinese imports-especially in a the middle of a difficult campaign season for his Republican Party, according to the Wall Street Journal.
In a nod to those concerns, administration officials are looking at lowering the tariff rate on the $200 billion in goods, which includes flooring, to about 10%-down from the 25% level announced in early August, according to people familiar with the emerging plans.
