Silver City, NM, Aug. 22--Business owners Michelle and Lee Pierce were stunned Wednesday morning when a pickup truck crashed through the floor-to-ceiling window in the front of their store, L&M Flooring, at around 11:40, according to the Silver City Daily Press.
The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Silver City resident, Richard Guerrera, plowed through the building.
Police believe Guerrera may have had a seizure while driving, missed his turn and drove into building, according to Michelle Pierce.
Four people--the Pierces, their small child and an employee--were inside the store when the crash occurred.
Michelle Pierce told the Daily Press that everyone was in the center of the store, near the Customer Service counter, when Guerrera's truck came through the front window, and no one was injured.
"We're very lucky that nobody was standing next to that window," she said. "The driver was very disoriented. Even after he drove through the window, he kept gunning the gas."
Pierce said Guerrera was transported to the hospital. A spokesman for Gila Regional Medical Center said Guerrera was treated and released Wednesday.
