Tricycle to Launch Reverb at Neocon
Chicago, IL, May 24, 2006--At the NeoCon World's Trade Fair next month, Tricycle will launch Reverb, an anthology of essays by eco-consultants, leading commercial designers and industry editors. The relationship between Tricycle and NeoCon is well established: Although Tricycle is a young company, it has been honored with a NeoCon award in every year since its founding four years ago (two Gold awards and two Creative Excellence Awards for booth design). This year, Tricycle decided to use the buzz surrounding its sustainable design services--which will be on display in the booths or showrooms of at least ten companies--to promote the current sustainability dialogue in the interiors industry, and to benefit the charitable work of Architecture for Humanity. "Reverb is an anthology of the moment," said Tricycle communications director and book editor, Caleb Ludwick. "We asked ten writers to share their thoughts on where the interiors industry stands on sustainability in 2006, and where we should be going. The initial brief, which was no more and no less than 'Design as change agent,' produced a wonderful mixed bag of conceptual arguments, open letters and practical how tos from leading voices in the field." The book's writers are Mairi Beautyman, contributing editor to Interior Design magazine and contributing writer for TreeHugger.com; Carlie Bullock-Jones, Senior Associate at TVS Architects; Bill Grant, President of AIGA; Holley Henderson, Chair of LEED for Commercial Interiors; Nadav Malin, Editor of Environmental Building News; Melissa Mizell, Gensler; Cameron Sinclair of Architecture for Humanity; Saturday Education Seminar, Color Marketing Group; MK Timme, Web Director of InteriorDesign.net; and Katie Weeks, Senior Editor at Contract magazine. In response to the immediacy of the pieces, Michael Hendrix, Tricycle's chief brand officer and creative director, created a book design that is itself an experiment in form. Cut to three sizes including a textbook, a flipbook, or full-size integrated design, Reverb's graphics and layouts react and respond to the content of the pieces. All articles were donated by their authors; Tricycle donated editing and design time, and secured sponsorship from Mohawk Fine Papers, Inc., Dusk, and Aquafil USA. Because of these donations, 50% of the sale of each book will go to Architecture for Humanity, a not for profit organization currently promoting architectural and design solutions to humanitarian crises in Sri Lanka, India, and on America's Gulf Coast. The book is printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper, and is a FSC certified book. Reverb will be available in Tricycle's booth at NeoCon (June 12-14, 2006), Merchandise Mart 8th floor, #4110; after June 15th, it will be available online at www.tricycleinc.com.
