Tricycle a Finalist in UK's Green Apple Awards

Leeds, United Kingdom, August 23--Sustainable design company Tricycle, Inc. has been chosen as a finalist in the Green Apple awards, an international campaign to recognize best environmental practices by companies, communities and countries. In their eleventh successful year, the Green Apple Awards are run by the Green Organisation, an independent, nonpolitical, nonactivist, nonprofit environment group. The Green Organisation is dedicated to rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world. Tricycle was nominated for its SIM from Tricycle carpet simulation, which is used by leading carpet manufacturers in their design and product sampling processes. In the past twelve months, Tricycle has kept 52,000 pounds of carpet out of landfills and saved carpet manufacturers more than $4.7 million. "It is a tremendous achievement to get on the short list, because the competition gets tougher and more fierce every year," said national organizer Roger Wolens. "Contenders are continually reaching new levels of environmental success and this campaign helps and encourages others to follow their good example, with the aim of improving our environment for generations to come." Past winners include Volvo, Barclays Bank, and The Royal Navy (2004), and BBC Worldwide, BP Retail UK, Honda UK, and Jaguar (2003). This year's winners will be invited to collect their awards at the Houses of Parliament in November. "We are delighted to be recognized by an organization that promotes the best of environmental endeavor here in the UK and overseas," said Tricycle CEO Jamie Harrison, "and are especially glad for our UK-based research and development team. Our hope is that our status as finalists will aid Tricycle's progress in reducing waste in the interiors industry not only in Europe and North America, but around the world."
