Topps Tiles Sees Few Signs of Recovery

London, England, July 13, 2011 -- Topps Tiles said sales have continued to fall, with little sign of a recovery ahead.

Topps reports that sales for the 13 weeks to July 2 saw like-for-like revenues decline by 1.9%.

“We do not expect to see any material change to trading patterns over the final quarter of the financial year," according to a press release.

“The business will continue to focus on achieving the efficiencies necessary to drive improved gross margins which will help to offset some of the impact of the challenging environment.”

Topps has been hit by low levels of house sales and low consumer confidence, which remains a drag on its short-term prospects.

The chain, which currently has 313 stores, said it still planned to open another seven branches by September
