Topps Tiles Reports Slower Q2 Sales
London, England, March 31, 2010--British retailer Topps Tiles said that second-quarter sales fell, as consumer confidence dipped and a general election nears.
"If I cast my mind back to previous elections, they've never done us any favours that's for sure," Matt Williams, chief executive of the tile and wood flooring seller, told Reuters.
On Wednesday a survey showed that UK consumer confidence declined in March over worries about the economic outlook.
Topps Tiles said it expected to report sales at stores open over a year up 2.1 percent over the 27 weeks to April 3.
That compares with a rise of 5.5 percent for the first 14 weeks of the period, its first-quarter.
