Tile of Spain Awards of Architecture Seeking Entri

Miami, FL, July 29-- The Spanish Ceramic Tile Association (ASCER) is pleased announce the call for entries in the 4th Tile of Spain Awards of Architecture and Interior Design. The awards recognize outstanding architectural and interior design projects using ceramic tiles from Spain. Prizes totaling 45,000 Euros are being offered; 18,000 Euros each for the architecture and interior design categories as well as 9,000 Euros for the Degree Projects category. A prestigious jury made up of renowned architects, interior designers and representatives of trade presss will judge the event hosted by Vodafone Spain and the Port Authority of Valencia. Representing the United States, C.C. Sullivan, AIA, architect and editor-in-chief of Architecture, will judge the entries. Sullivan was previously the editorial director of Building & Design Construction. "The Tile of Spain Awards gives architects and designers the opportunity to show their creativity and talent. Each year it is awesome to see what they are able to do with the tiles from Spain. The entries are always inspiring," said Javier Soriano of ASCER. Projects for the Tile of Spain Awards in Architecture will be accepted from professional practitioners. The competition is open to professional architects, interior designers, architectural engineers, landscapers and decorators of all nationalities. Entries may represent new construction, renovation projects, urban development projects or exterior landscaping. Judging for the Tile of Spain Awards in Interior Design will be based upon entries from either new or refurbished buildings as well as settings created for short-term use. The Degree Projects category is open to Spanish Advanced Schools of Architecture that meet the same pre-requisites as the Architecture and Interior Design categories. Projects for both categories must have substantial use of floor and/or wall tiles made in Spain displayed in the formal part of the building. All entries must be for projects completed between January 2004 and October 2005. Entries and supporting information must be received by November 3, 2005.
