Texas Carpet Recycling in Landfill Pilot Program

Ft. Worth, TX, Feb. 27, 2012 -- Texas Carpet Recycling is working with a local landfill on a pilot program to divert carpet.

The company was contacted by IESI TX Landfill, the owner and operator of the Fort Worth C&D Landfill, to discuss keeping carpet out of their landfill.

Texas Carpet Recycling supplies a trailer at the landfill, where waste carpet is stored. The carpet is then sent to TCR's warehouse in Grapevine, where it is sorted by fiber type and processed for recycling into a variety of products.

"We are very excited to be working with IESI and the City of Ft. Worth," says Thomas Holland, president of Texas Carpet Recycling.

"They were the first landfill in the state to proactively search out and start a program to handle the carpet in an environmentally responsible way."

TCR said it looking for two additional municipalities in the area to run a similar trial.
