Teragren Files Patent Suit Against Smith & Fong

Seattle, WA, November 6, 2007—Teragren said it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Smith & Fong Company—doing business as Plyboo—of South San Francisco, California.

Teragren is seeking a permanent injunction and unspecified monetary damages from Smith & Fong in the suit filed on Monday, Nov. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

“After nearly a year of negotiations, we sincerely hoped to come to an amicable resolution on this matter,” said Teragren CEO David Knight. “However, when discussions with Smith & Fong recently came to a halt, we had no other option but to file suit.”

Teragren owns exclusive rights to strand bamboo product patents in both the U.S. and Mexico . The product is manufactured through a process that fuses together bamboo strands with environmentally safe adhesives to create strand bamboo flooring, panels and flooring accessories.
