Teragren Bamboo Gains Australian and New Zealand D

Bainbridge Island, WA, March 2, 2006--Teragren, a manufacturer of bamboo flooring, panels and veneer, announced an agreement with Australian-based Terasales Pty Ltd., an associated company of Paramount Floors Pty Ltd., to provide Teragren’s bamboo products to retailers in Australia and New Zealand. Terasales, established in Australia by parties experienced in the procurement and distribution of bamboo flooring products in that region, is dedicated to bringing the Teragren brand to Australia and New Zealand. As a result of the agreement, Teragren’s distribution network is anticipated to expand by the inclusion of up to an additional 800 retailers in Australia and New Zealand. By the end of 2006 Teragren’s distribution network is expected to grow from 1,700 floor covering retailers to more than 3,000 in the United States and Canada. “We’re very excited that our products will now be available in these important markets,” said Teragren president and CEO David Knight. “This agreement represents the growing international demand for Teragren’s beautiful, durable, renewable bamboo. We’re happy to be working with the experienced Terasales team in offering our products to new audiences.” “Teragren’s quality bamboo flooring, panels and veneer represent a new benchmark in quality for Australia and New Zealand,” said Jeffrey Broun, managing director of Terasales Group. “The Teragren brand represents a reputation for consistent quality, technical expertise and customer support. We expect demand for Teragren products to be significant in our markets.” Under the terms of the agreement, Terasales retailers will have access to Teragren’s entire suite of bamboo flooring product lines, all accessories, and stairparts along with Teragren panels and veneers. Teragren bamboo products, which are sustainable and environmentally friendly, provide innovative design solutions for every room in the house, and address the increasing demand from domestic and commercial consumers for green products, which has grown significantly in recent years. The McGraw-Hill Construction (MHC) group’s Green Building SmartMarket Report released in November 2005 indicates the environmentally responsible “green building” market will reach $10 - $20 billion over the next five years. MHC’s research shows 60% of architects, engineers and contractors are specifying and installing green building products in their construction projects. “This agreement is exciting for our environmentally-conscious product portfolio,” said Knight. “We expect the Australian and New Zealand market to embrace the Teragren product range in the same way as the market here in North America.” As pioneers in the green building industry, Teragren’s factory capacity, volume and sales have grown significantly each year. Most recently, Teragren introduced Synergy strand, a new solid bamboo flooring product that is 100 percent harder than oak and 43 percent harder than Teragren’s standard bamboo flooring. The flooring features an exotic, variegated design that provides a dramatic, rich style to the flooring product, which is ideal for commercial as well as residential installations. Founded in 1994, Teragren (teragren.com) pioneered the bamboo flooring, panel and veneer industry in the United States. The company is recognized as a category leader by the architectural and design communities as well as major floor covering, and panel and veneer distributors. All Teragren bamboo products contribute to certification under the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) rating system. Terasales Pty Ltd, has been established specifically to manage the Teragren brand in Australia and New Zealand. Terasales is an associated company to Paramount Floors Pty Ltd, a leader in Australia in the supply of quality bamboo flooring products.
