Techmer PM Acquiring Accel Corporation
Clinton, TN, March 31, 2008--Techmer PM is acquiring Accel Corporation in a merger transaction that will expand Techmer PM’s national manufacturing footprint and product and service offering.
The deal, scheduled to close on April 1, will make Accel Corporation a wholly owned subsidiary of Techmer PM. Accel operates under the Accel Color brand name and has operated facilities in Avon, Ohio; Naperville, Ill.; Ontario, Calif.; and Knoxville, Tenn. Accel’s key management team will remain with the company.
“Accel strengthens our national manufacturing presence by giving Techmer two well-established sites in the Midwest," said Techmer CEO John Manuck
“Accel also brings us a well-established brand that emphasizes speed to market and transaction efficiency, along with a proprietary business model to deliver it.”
Citing Accel’s proficiency in developing and manufacturing small orders of custom color concentrates, Manuck said that Accel complements Techmer PM’s manufacturing and service offering.
“Transaction velocity and small order capability are increasingly important to North American manufacturers competing in the global marketplace," Manuck said.
"Our goal is to bring this capability to existing customers while offering Techmer’s broad range of products and services to Accel’s customer base.”
Calling the merger “a perfect fit,” Accel President Dwight Morgan said that a national presence is increasingly important in the North American colorants industry, which has experienced dramatic consolidation among the customer base during the past decade.
“Accel did not have the critical mass to establish a national footprint on its own," Morgan said.
"Joining an industry leader like Techmer allows us to give our customers national as well as global support along with a much broader product offering.”
Techmer also said that the expansion of the company’s Dalton, Ga. fiber complex will be completed by early summer. The expansion includes both a Fiber Development Center to provide customers a broad range of fiber sample making capability, together with Techmer PM’s Digital Innovation Lab for virtual color and design development work.
This sustainable technology will allow customers to digitally explore product and color concepts in a calibrated virtual environment before committing to physical sampling. The Dalton fibers complex will also include an expanded custom color production capability.
