Tarkett’s FiberFloor Featured on Extreme Makeover
Whitehall, PA, December 28, 2005--FiberFloor from Tarkett Residential was recently showcased on ABC's Emmy-winning hit show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The episode, which aired on November 20th, featured FiberFloor as part of the home makeover for the Johnson family of Medfield, Mass. The renovation was conducted in part to make the home more accessible for five-year-old Will Johnson, who suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), and requires a motorized scooter for mobility. Since his diagnosis at 14 months of age, the family has been tirelessly working to raise community awareness of the condition. Some of their efforts include Mr. Johnson’s annual participation in the Boston Marathon to raise money for SMA, and Mrs. Johnson’s spearheading of a parent volunteer program that teaches disability awareness education in public schools. “We were thrilled to be able to help this inspirational family by donating FiberFloor for their ‘extreme makeover’,” says Mark Brown, director of marketing, Tarkett Residential. “Like the Johnson family, Tarkett is committed to giving back to the communities in which we live, and we commend them for their efforts.” FiberFloor was installed in Matthew’s bedroom, called the “Pogo Stick” room, as well as the basement. Combining all the virtues of traditional sheet floors, carpets and laminates, FiberFloor is an easy-to-maintain, versatile home flooring option. FiberFloor consists of an engineered fiberglass interlayer encapsulated between two vinyl layers with a comfort backing. The fiberglass interlayer and comfort backing in FiberFloor make the product extremely flexible and bendable, and also provides dimensional stability so the flooring will not expand, contract, crack or curl. The product is also unique in the fact that it does not require adhesives during installation, and can be cut to the size of a room and laid down. The FiberFloor product for the installation was distributed through Hoboken Floors, located in Stoughton, Mass, and installed by C&R Flooring, located in Needham, Mass. “FiberFloor was the perfect choice for this renovation as it will be easy for the family to maintain and provides a smooth, comfortable surface,” said Bill Houle, Hoboken Floors. “We were proud to be a part of this project with the help of our partner C & R Flooring. It is installations like these that make a difference not only for the family, but for us as well.” For information on FiberFloor see: www.tarkett.com.
