Tarkett Overhauling Houston Plant

Houston, TX, January 12--Tarkett Commercial has begun implementation of an overhaul of its manufacturing processes at its Houston facility. The project, which began in June 2004, and will be completed in the summer of 2006, will be supported by an investment of US $3.6 million by the company. "This investment in our manufacturing processes will help Tarkett as a company maintain competitive pricing," said Gilles de Beaumont, president, Tarkett Commercial. "With the rising costs of raw materials and production, many companies are forced to increase costs to their customers. Our production overhaul is designed to help us stabilize our pricing, while better serving our customers and providing them with Tarkett products in a more timely and efficient manner." According to Tarkett officials, the upgrade will help make the existing production lines even faster and more economical by using lean manufacturing. This, in turn, will lead to higher production cost-efficiencies and increased product availability. All of the new and enhanced manufacturing processes will be completed in Summer 2006.
