Tarkett Commercial Increases Price on VCT

Houston, TX, January 21--Tarkett Commercial announced today that it will implement a five to seven percent price increase on its commercial vinyl composition tile (VCT) products and some commercial sheet vinyl. The price increase will go into effect on February 1, 2005. “In the past ten months, two of the five major PVC resin plants closed in the US. In order to secure all the PVC resin needed to supply to our customers, we were forced to bring resin from overseas,” says Gilles de Beaumont, president, Tarkett Commercial. “As a result we cannot offset the price difference, making this price increase necessary.” Tarkett Commercial recently implemented a two-year overhaul of its Houston production facility. The project, which will be completed in the summer of 2006, will help Tarkett maintain competitive pricing by streamlining production efficiencies. This upgrade will also enable Tarkett to make existing production lines faster and more economical by using “lean manufacturing” processes, which will lead to higher production cost-efficiencies and increased product availability. “Tarkett will continually re-evaluate our production processes so that we as a company can continue to deliver our products in a timely and efficient manner,” adds de Beaumont. “Tarkett remains dedicated to creating efficiencies that help lower manufacturing and supply costs wherever possible.”
