Tarkett Commercial Donates Flooring for New 'H
Houston, TX, November 9--In 1988, Paul Newman set out to create his Hole in the Wall Gang Camps which allow children with serious illnesses to “just be kids.” The Painted Turtle Camp in Lake Hughes, Ca. is the sixth Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, and the first to serve children on the West Coast. Construction on the camp began in April 2002, and was completed in April 2004, with the camp opening its doors to residents in May. While planning the design of the camp’s dining hall, bathrooms and smaller kitchens, designers at R. World Design wanted a floor that not only was attractive, but also would be easy to clean and have a long lifespan. To that end, Tarkett donated approximately 10,000 square feet of Linosom Linoleum flooring to be used throughout the camp. “We are thrilled that we were able to help such a worthy cause,” said Diane Martel, vice president of marketing for Tarkett Commercial. “Our Linosom Linoleum flooring satisfied the camp’s design and maintenance needs, and helps create a welcome, peaceful environment that will last for years to come.” Linoleum is one of Tarkett’s most environmentally friendly floors, as it is comprised almost entirely of renewable raw materials. The natural reaction between the resin and linseed oil used in its production creates inherent anti-bacterial properties. Along with its ease of maintenance and high durability, these anti-bacterial properties make linoleum particularly appropriate for a variety of healthcare applications and public areas. “Tarkett was great to work with, and went above and beyond our expectations with the flooring the company donated to our camp,” explained Kurt Steffen of R. World Designs. “The Linosom Linoleum flooring not only satisfied our maintenance requirements , but the colors helped to create the bright aesthetic we were looking to achieve. The camp has truly become a home to a group of special children.”
