Tandus Product Wins Symposium Award
Dalton, GA, Sept. 22, 2010--Tandus Flooring won this year’s Symposium Distinction Award in the Most Sustainable category with the Urban Nature Collection on Powerbond.
The Symposium Distinction Award is sponsored by the Healthcare Facilities Symposium & Expo.
The awards competition recognizes products that contribute to the enrichment of the healing environment through their design and operational support. Products are entered without specific category then awarded in one of four categories—Architect’s Choice; Best in Show; Most Innovative; or Most Sustainable.
The Most Sustainable prize is awarded to the product that demonstrates environmental benefits while protecting health, welfare, and environment over their full commercial cycle.
The Urban Nature collection won for its design on Powerbond, a hybrid resilient sheet flooring consisting of a heterogeneous construction of a nylon wear layer and a closed cell cushion “Powerbonded” together through heat and pressure.
When constructed using ethos, a high-performance polymer recycled from disposed windshields, or ER3 Cushion, a backing that contains 98% recycled content, Powerbond has 36-61% (depending on backing) overall recycled content, Tandus said.
