Tandus Names Collins a 2010 Tandus Hero

Dalton, GA, Dec. 29, 2009 -- Tandus said it has named Amy Collins, a technical information services associate, a 2010 Tandus Hero.

The Tandus Heroes program recognizes associates who go above and beyond to improve the lives of others in their community.

Collins was nominated by fellow employees who described her “as one of the most giving people we know.”

Her efforts extend from volunteering her time with the Northwest Georgia Mountains chapter of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program to helping co-workers in need.  

Collins’ has been with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for more than 12 years.

The Tandus Heroes award includes a monetary donation in the winner’s name to the charity of his/her choice. Collins has chosen the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

Collins also demonstrated her willingness to help others when one of her co-workers at a previous employer became very ill and was in need of a kidney transplant. Collins found that she was a viable donor and immediately began the process to donate a kidney.
