Tandus, IIDA, To Promote Public Sector Design

Dalton, GA, July 2008--Tandus, through a partnership with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), held a collaborative government forum during NeoCon last month.

This event marked a “kick-off” to the two organizations' United by Design joint venture to promote recognition of public sector design.

Led by IIDA’s government forum adviser Deborah Loveridge,  the one- day conference featured  industrial designer Yves Béhar as the keynote speaker and provided a venue for government design professionals to disseminate and share government-related design knowledge.

Representatives from both IIDA and Tandus discussed a range of topics that included sustainability and procurement within the government field.

In addition, a call-for-entries was announced for a new awards program, Federal Design Achievement Awards, which will recognize excellence in design within public sector projects. The competition will offer multiple categories, a blue-chip jury and an awards presentation event at NeoCon East in Baltimore in October.

“We are excited about our new collaboration with IIDA and recognize that design excellence in government buildings benefits all of us,” said Glen Hussmann, Tandus CEO.

“We look forward to promoting the value of design in this important market segment.”
