Syngenta Applies for Registration of Prevel Carpet
Greensboro, NC, September 8 - Syngenta, a world-leading agribusiness, recently applied to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for registration of Prevel carpet treatment, a new product currently in development.
Prevel is expected by the company to be a major advancement in the elimination and prevention of indoor allergens, produced by dust mites and mold, in residential wall-to-wall carpeting. EPA approval of this registration is the first step toward product launch.
"Prevel Carpet Treatment represents a new direction for Syngenta," said Jeff Tweedy, business team leader, Syngenta Global Business Development. "When this product is registered, we will target a new consumer and that means a new approach to our sales and marketing efforts-plus new revenue for Syngenta. Prevel is currently undergoing thorough testing, and we anticipate EPA registration by 2006."
Prevel is a mixture of a fungicide, which inhibits mold spore germination, and an insecticide, which eliminates and prevents dust mites. Both ingredients have been used effectively in a variety of indoor and outdoor applications for many years.
Prevel is not yet registered by EPA, and no sale or use of this product may be made until all required federal and state registrations have been obtained.
