Suzanne Tick Inc. Named Director of Design for Mon
New York, NY, November 11---Suzanne Tick Inc., headed by nationally recognized artist and designer Suzanne Tick, has been selected to direct the design for Monterey Carpets, a Tandus company and award winning manufacturer of commercial carpets. Suzanne Tick Inc. will be responsible for developing Monterey's overall product strategy by working with a team of talented design professionals to create new floor covering products for all market sectors. Monterey plans to launch the first products designed under Ms. Tick's leadership at NeoCon 2005. "Over the years, Monterey has been identified with high style floorcoverings. We will work together to continue building Monterey's reputation for excellence. Our design studio will be dedicated to creating a look that is timeless and enduring, but at the same time fashionable and aware of trends," said Ms. Tick. Terry Mowers, co-partner of Suzanne Tick Inc., will work with Ms. Tick to follow the firm's design philosophy reflecting a sensitivity to nature and the use of new and innovative materials while creating products that are both progressive and viable. With more than 20 years of carpet industry sales and marketing experience, Mr. Mowers brings his ability to foresee market trends to this partnership. "This is an exciting time for the Monterey brand. Suzanne and Terry's experience in commercial fabrics and floorcoverings make them a great fit," said Ralph Grogan, president of Monterey Carpets. "With their expertise, the Monterey design studio will carry forward our strong reputation for design excellence and enhance this great brand." In addition to working with Monterey, Suzanne Tick Inc. will also collaborate with the two other Tandus brands, C&A Floorcoverings and Crossley Carpet Mills, to create collections of coordinated broadloom, tile and woven styles. "We were drawn to Monterey by its reputation in the commercial broadloom sector as well as the intriguing way the Tandus enterprise goes to market," said Ms. Tick. "It is a welcomed challenge to create floorcoverings that maintain the Monterey look and feel while contributing to a cohesive and well rounded offering that reaches multiple market sectors." With Tandus' recent consolidation of its North American broadloom manufacturing to its Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada, facility, Tick Inc.'s base in New York City will be central to the company's design studios in Dalton, Ga., and Truro. "Of course, Suzanne will be heavily engaged in implementing product creation, but we are also very eager for her to develop collaborative and interactive relationships with architecture and design firms in the marketplace," said Grogan.
