Survey of Economists Sees No Double Dip

New York, NY, Aug. 23, 2011 -- The economy isn't likely to slide back into another recession, although growth will remain tepid for the rest of this year, according to a survey of leading economists by the Associated Press.

The economists have grown increasingly pessimistic in recent months, and they believe that high unemployment and weak consumer spending will hold back the U.S. economy into 2012.

They say the economy will grow at an annual rate of 2% in the July-September quarter and 2.2% from October through December and unemployment will end next year at 8.5%, AP said.
