Suppliers Target Carpet Dealer

Cincinnati, OH, Oct. 30--In an uncommon move, three flooring companies have filed a petition to force Cincinnati-based Dalton GA Carpet Outlet into bankruptcy, seeking a Chapter 7 liquidation, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. In a Sept. 6 bankruptcy court filing, the creditors claim the chain--also known as Tim Hogan's Dalton GA Carpet--owes them almost $1.3 million. The creditors are: Ohio Valley Flooring in Cincinnati; Scottdel Inc. in Swanton, Ohio; and Mohawk Industries in Chatsworth, GA. Tim Hogan's owns two locations in Newport and Florence, OH. Its other stores were recently sold. The move does not mean Tim Hogan's is bankrupt. The company has a right to contest the petition, and then bankruptcy court will decide on the matter. But the filing is uncommon, said Louis Solimine, a lawyer for Thompson, Hine and Flory. “It's not a typical thing for creditors to do,” he said. “Sometimes it happens when creditors are as upset about something” to file.
