Stump Reports on Key Topics from BDNY 2025

New York, NY, November 12, 2025-Analyst Stump issued the following report about the 2025 BDNY show, held November 9 and 10 at the Javitts Center in New York City.

"This week the Stump Team all attempted to journey to New York for the annual BDNY hospitality show. Unfortunately, like many groups, only one of us made it due to the FAA’s mandated flight cancellations, air traffic controller shortages, and delays.

“The show, however, was upbeat and well attended; everyone had live projects to discuss. The ‘pause-and-delay’ effect from Liberation Day has seemingly passed and most everyone is enjoying an uptick in business - with a positive outlook for 2026.  With interest rates now coming down, banks are financing projects, brands are seeking to refresh properties, and vendors are ready to return to a healthy marketplace.

Quote of the Market: ‘Designers and specifiers were here to talk business, and they are looking for something exciting, fun, colorful, and whimsical’ opined one owner.

Key Topics

“AI-Forward looking companies are seeking better ways to deploy AI and other technology to enhance product development and operational efficiencies. Wayfair even hosted a panel discussion on this topic.

“Tariffs-Most exhibitors have found various workarounds to mitigate the direct impact and are managing through the turmoil and chaos of the trade wars. ‘Just give me the rules and let them stick’ was a constant refrain.

“M&A-PE sponsors and strategic buyers were roaming the halls looking for deals. We loved seeing TOV Furniture at the show and discussing their recent acquisition of a North Carolina upholstery business. Expect to see more of this as domestic production has become a priority for many.

“Luxury-High=end furniture is still a desirable place to be as the wealthy continue to travel and high-end flags are spiffing up their properties to attract these customers. Plus boutique hotels are still being built. More focus is also being placed on the flooring, top of bed textiles, wall coverings and window treatments. Similar to the residential trend of ‘whole home’ décor, hoteliers are upping their game across the lobby and rooms for their guests.”
