Stryron Selects Locations for Operations Centers

Midland, MI, July 21, 2010--Styron has selected the Philadelphia area for its Global Operations Center, which will employ 40-50 people, including executive management, finance and legal.

“The Philadelphia area is a great location for Styron,” said CEO Chris Pappas.

“It offers good travel connections to our global operations, customers and partners’ locations. And because the city and the surrounding areas offer a great quality of life, we will be able to attract and retain top talent for Styron.”

Styron was formed when Dow Chemical sold a business unit to Bain Capital Partners on June 17. It sells latex to the flooring industry

In addition, the company announced that its North America Operations Center will be based in Midland, where several Styron research labs, a paper latex pilot coater and a number of Styron manufacturing units are located.

To accommodate the NAOC, Styron has leased 8,400 square feet of office space in downtown Midland, which will include business management and functional services jobs, as well as Styron’s Customer Service group for North America.  Styron’s total investment in the NAOC and other Midland facilities will be up to $13 million over the next five years.

"Midland will continue to be Styron’s largest location in the U.S.,” said Pappas.

The company has its other regional operations centers in Hong Kong; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and outside Zurich, Switzerland.
