State of Michigan Offers Kmart $45M to Stay

Lansing, MI, October 28 -- The state of Michigan has offered Kmart at least $45 million in incentives to keep its headquarters in Michigan, according to News6.com However, Kmart would have to keep 1,500 jobs in the state with an average salary of $70,000 a year. The company would also have to show that it has a viable proposal to relocate in another state. Kmart is not commenting on relocation efforts. Its current building in Troy is considered unsuitable and sits on valuable real estate. News reports have indicated Kmart is considering relocating to Georgia.
