Starnet's 2023 Fall Meeting Begins Today

Louisville, KY, October 13, 2023-Starnet’s fall meeting begins today in Louisville, Kentucky, running through tomorrow.

The event will shine a spotlight on technology, including artificial intelligence, and practical ways contractors can use it to increase their productivity and enhance their efficiency.

“Where it’s very impactful for their business is estimating,” says Rob Starr, director of marketing and member services for the group of commercial flooring contractors. “We have a workshop on AI and how estimating is going to change. It will be faster and more accurate, and that leads to increased productivity and, hopefully, increased profitability for our members.”

Starr notes that the current business slowdown is primarily on the residential side, and he predicts a “soft landing” as opposed to a major recession, but he adds that embracing technology and the streamlined opportunities it presents will help business owners manage any downturn more effectively.

“We do see a little bit of downside going into 2024 and into 2025,” says Starr.

The group recently soft launched its new website, providing a “quick and easy reference to connect with flooring contractors,” and the group is running cross-promotions to attract facility managers, A&D and end users to the new resource, Starr says. The site contains a contractor locator, as well as individual member-business pages.

The group plans the sessions based on member feedback, and “succession planning is always a high priority for Starnet,” says Starr.

Based on post-meeting surveys, the networking and sharing of best practices are always members’ favorite parts.
