StarNet Member, Legacy Commercial Flooring Celebra
Columbus, OH, May 22, 2006--Legacy Commercial Flooring, Ltd., celebrated its first anniversary this spring at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Café in Columbus, Ohio. The year-old owners George Holinga and Tony Nixon invited employees and their spouses--over 300 total attendees--to an afternoon of dinner, accolades, sales and recognition awards. Branch managers from three of the company’s Ohio locations surprised both Holinga and Nixon with a special presentation of engraved clocks, as a special thanks from the employees. Capping off the evening’s event was the announcement of the maintenance technician and installer who won new Ford F150 trucks through a company incentive program. George Holinga, co-owner of Legacy Commercial Flooring, said, “On behalf of all our employees, friends and families, we’re thrilled to celebrate our first anniversary. It has been an exciting year for us as we continue to grow, including recent purchases of dealerships in Wheelersburg, Ohio and Miami, Florida, along with our Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati locations. And, one of the highlights from the evening, of course, was awarding two extremely deserving employees with new Ford trucks! With our expansion, continued hard work and dedicated staff, we look forward to a profitable future.” The winners of the Ford F150 trucks were: Mark Joyce from the Cleveland, OH, installation division and Nik Mize from the Cincinnati, OH, maintenance division. Based on verbal and written compliments from customers, entries were placed in the employee’s name for a chance in the drawing. There were over 140 entries in the products and installation division, and over 80 entries in the maintenance division. Lori Dowling, president and CEO of StarNet Commercial Flooring Cooperative, said, “We’re thrilled to offer our congratulations to Legacy on such a successful year. StarNet members are among the best of the best. We’re proud to have them as part of our membership and appreciate gaining insight from their expertise.” Legacy’s predecessor company was originally founded in 1900 as Wilson Floors in Columbus, Ohio. Over the past ten years the company experienced several buyouts, including being owned by E&I DuPont Co. and Koch Industries. On March 14, 2005, George Holinga and Tony Nixon purchased the Ohio branches in Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati, taking with them the employees of Wilson Floors and over 100 years of experience as a commercial flooring business. The company continues to grow, with purchases of dealerships in Wheelersburg, Ohio and Miami, Florida. The new owners and their employees pride themselves on being Ohio’s largest commercial flooring business specializing in carpeting, ceramic, creative concrete, resilient and access floors. Early in 1992, independent commercial flooring dealers recognized their resources could be strengthened through a national network combining their individual capabilities. This basic concept grew into the StarNet Commercial Flooring Cooperative which, with more than 145 independent contractors doing business in 230 of the top markets across North America, is the most professional, service-driven, commercial floor covering entity in existence today. Working closely with the leading floor covering manufacturers, StarNet has been able to reduce the costs related to doing business and create a combined annual volume of well over one billion dollars.
