Stand on a Better World Opens 2007 Nominations
Salem, NJ, April 3, 2007--Mannington Mills has called for nominations for the 2007 “Stand On A Better World” Awards, which celebrate women who “do the right thing” to make a difference in the lives of people and communities locally as well as globally. Awards and nomination information is available at www.StandOnABetterWorld.com. “Every year we learn about women who see a way to make people’s lives better and decide to do it – to make an impact,” said Tom Davis, president and chief executive officer of Mannington Mills Inc. “They are the unsung heroes. Some work to improve the quality of life or the economic situations for others, while others help to protect our natural resources. No matter what the cause or how they did it, these women have made an impact and they deserve to be recognized.” Tennis great Billie Jean King and ABC-TV’s Deborah Roberts of “20/20” are among the judges for this year’s awards. Founded in 2005, the Stand On A Better World Awards celebrate women across North America who are making a positive impact in their communities or the world at large. The program offers four award categories for 2007: 2007 Award Categories Local: The Local Award recognizes efforts from within a local neighborhood to across a single state or province. It celebrates the accomplishments of women who have overcome great challenges to create hope in neighborhoods and communities within their state. National: The National Award is presented for efforts that include more than one state or province, up to a national level. These nominees have taken their dream and made it relevant across many communities. Global: The Global Award recognizes outreach that extends beyond national borders. These global visionaries have overcome the financial, political, logistical and organizational difficulties to offer aid to help the hungry, poor and disadvantaged in some of the most remote areas of the world. “Your Better World” Award: This year for the first time, the public gets to vote!
