Springs Licenses Mattel's Barbie & Hot Wheels

Fort Mill, SC, August 5--Springs Industries has signed a multi-license agreement with Mattel to create home collections for the toy company's premier brands, including leading lifestyle brands Barbie and Hot Wheels. The scope of the partnership reaffirms Springs' leadership position in the juvenile category and recognizes the company's ability to provide its licensing partners with home fashions across multiple product categories. With product development capabilities in bedding, bath, rugs, basic bedding, crafts and fabrics, Springs Industries is able to tailor its licensing programs – whether for juveniles, toddlers or adults – to each brand's target audiences and each brand's personality. Springs' extensive product breadth also provides retailers with the supply and marketing economies offered by working with a single resource. The company said that retailers will have the chance to preview the collections starting in the third quarter, with anticipated ship dates in January 2005. Among Springs' offerings will be home products featuring the tween fashion doll line My Scene as well as storylines from Barbie Entertainment, an extension of the Barbie mega brand. Introduced to the market almost a half century ago, Barbie is the best-selling doll of all time and continues to entertain and engage millions of girls around the world.
