Springfield-Branson Airport Replacing 93,000 Square Feet of Flooring

Springfield, MO, June 11, 2025-"New flooring is going to be put down at the Springfield-Branson National Airport beginning late this summer. The carpet there now, meant to mimic the waterways of the Ozarks, has been in place since the terminal opened in 2009,” reports KSMU.

The total size of the project is 93,000 square feet.

"‘After more than 15 million people have walked across this carpet, they are really just worn out. They're reaching the end of their useful life,’ said SGF Spokesperson Ren Luebbering.

The carpet will be replaced by terrazzo, which is expected to last 50 years.

“The new floor is mindful of the terminal’s three architectural themes: Water, rock and the natural green spaces of the Ozarks, according to the airport in a press release.

“The $4 million flooring project will be done in sections to lessen the impact to airport customers.”
