SPI Floors to Open Distribution Center in Henderso
Henderson, SC, May 15, 2006--A subsidiary of the nation's largest wholesaler of flooring products has chosen Henderson, N.C., for its newest distribution center. SPI Floors LLC supplies carpet, wood, laminate, vinyl, ceramic and rubber flooring to retailers from Texas to Maine. The company's 30,000 square foot center in Vance County will employ 30 people. The 56-year-old company that became SPI Floors is headquartered in Elkridge, Md., and in 2006, it merged into Hoboken Floors. The combined company offers superior product offerings, logistics, expertise and experience and aims to be a billion-dollar enterprise in 2007. "We service Virginia up to Richmond and all of North Carolina, and this is just about dead center of that geography," said Bruce Boulden, SPI's vice president of sales for the Henderson region. “The ease of access to interstates 85, 95 and 40 is why we're here." The presence of Interstate 85, U.S. 1, and U.S. 158 in Vance County is a major draw for distribution operations, Finch said, because it gives companies fast routes to their major markets. Vance County's central-East Coast location puts it within 700-miles of more than 170 million U.S. and Canadian consumers.
