Spenard Builders Buys Flooring and Wallpaper Compa

Anchorage, AK, June 6, 2006--Spenard Builders Supply has purchased Curtis & Campbell Inc. and Wallcoverings North Inc., retail and wholesale interior-decorating businesses founded by the Campbell family in 1966 and 1975, respectively, according to the Anchorage Daily News. The two Campbell-owned companies will form a new division of SBS that works with the SBS Design Center, SBS said. Executives did not disclose a purchase price for the deal announced Thursday. The style of the SBS centers and the Campbell companies has been called "blue collar versus suit-and-tie," said Stan Smith, vice president of operations for SBS. That difference will be maintained because they complement each other, he said. Bill Campbell continues to run Curtis & Campbell with his brother Dale, while Sharon Campbell continues to head Wallcoverings North, Smith said. The businesses have separate 6,000- and 3,000-square-foot showrooms at 6239 B St. in Anchorage, Bill Campbell said. Both offer flooring, paint, wall coverings, fabrics and architectural moldings. Wallcoverings North also has a contract division that works with the state's hospitality industry, Campbell said. He said the family firms have 20 employees and share high standards for customer service and employee care with SBS, which Smith said has 800 employees statewide. Spenard Builders is owned by Redmond, Wash.-based Lanoga Corp.
