Spain Led in Ceramic Imports to the U.S. in June

New York, NY, August 10, 2022-In the month of June, Spain returned to first place in ceramic tile imports with four million square meters, followed by Italy (3.3 million square meters), Mexico (2.95 million square meters), Turkey (2.5 million square meters), India (2.2 million square meters), and Brazil (two million square meters), according to Grosser Consulting. Total imports for the month were 18.8 million square meters, the highest month so far for this year.

For the period from January to June 2022, Spain is in first place with 20.1 million square meters, followed by Italy (17 million square meters), Mexico (16 million square meters), Turkey (12.5 million square meters), India (11.6 million square meters), and Brazil (10.4 million square meters). Dollar values were as follows: Italy, $329 million; Spain, $257 million; Mexico, $123 million; Turkey, $92 million; India, $67 million; and Brazil $65 million.

For the period from January to June, total imports in square meters were down by 3.3%. Italy was up by 2.3%, while Spain was down by 5.4%, Mexico was down by 10.9%, Turkey was down by 3.6%, India was up by 4.5% and Brazil was down by 2.1%.

Landed  values per square meter keep going up, a result of higher cost of shipping and distribution: Italy $24.45 ($23.86 in the months January-May), Spain $18.57 ($18.03), Mexico $8.13 ($8.13), Turkey $9.76 ($9.26), India $9.22 ($9.02) and Brazil $8.69 ($8.59).
