South Dakota Furniture Retailer Buys Carpet Store

Sioux Falls, SC, August 6, 2007--Montgomery's Furniture has purchased Abbey Carpet with plans to reopen the store under the Montgomery's umbrella, according to the Argus Leader.

Clark Sinclair, co-owner of Montgomery's, said he finalized the deal Aug. 1 to purchase Abbey Carpet's assets. Abbey Carpet recently closed.

The building will be renovated, and Sinclair hopes to have the store reopened October 1.

It will be an upscale store that sells floor and window coverings and will have some different options than Abbey offered.

Though the Madison Montgomery's store offers floor coverings, the Sioux Falls store does not, Sinclair said.

"In Sioux Falls, we've never had room to have a floor cover department," he said
