SMT Woods to Launch Oiled and Waxed Exotic Hardwoo

Camarillo, CA, January 10--SMT Woods said it will launch a new product line, the Renaissance Series, at Surfaces in Las Vegas January 26th through 28th. Renaissance Series product demonstration can be viewed at SMT Woods booth #G4725. The look and feel of Renaissance Series floors is as natural as Mother Nature. It is ideal for high traffic areas such as foyers and lobbies, and commercial applications such as dance floors and restaurants. Unlike traditional waxed floors, its oiled and waxed surface offers a hardened exterior that does not require constant maintenance. And to repair scratches, it is as simple as wiping the damaged area with a cloth dipped in Polyx-Oil. The result is instantaneous and the repair process is quite effortless. "Today, most wood floors are pre-finished at the factory with aluminum oxide coating. The advantage of this type of wood floor is easy installation and quality finish. Its disadvantage is that to repair scratches, the floors will need to be refinished," said Martin Shum, Chairman of SMT Woods. "Renaissance Series combines the simplicity of wax wood floors, popular in yesteryears, with the latest in manufacturing techniques and oil products. Each piece of wood is repeatedly sanded to achieve an ultra smooth surface. It is then oiled, waxed and UV dried twice. In addition, we use only Polyx-Oil from Germany. This special oil/wax combination is uniquely aesthetic, completely ecological, and offers outstanding chemical and physical resistance while preserving the natural wood surface characteristics." Available in Q2 of 2005, Renaissance Series will initially offer six exotic species, Cumaru, Jatoba, Kempas, Lapacho, Merbau and Oak, in both 18mm solid and 15mm engineered. Each species also comes in two widths, 90/120mm for solids and 93/123mm for engineered. Products are packaged in 2.1m cartons with random lengths. SMT Woods is a subsidiary of Hagemeyer Burma Teak of Hong Kong. The company imports, markets and distributes hardwood flooring and wood blind components from Jing Cheng Woodwork, an ISO-9002 certified factory wholly-owned and operated by Hagemeyer, on an exclusive basis in North America.
