Slate Flooring/Roofing Firm Growing

Broomfield, CO, Nov. 6--After 14 years in Broomfield, Source Products Group is expanding and recently formed a partnership that will bring a touch of Europe to Colorado, according to the Broomfield Enterprise. Mark Wennstedt, owner of the slate tile distribution company located in northeast Broomfield, said the company recently signed a deal to distribute Source Products Group distributes natural stone flooring and stone roof tiles of the type often found on luxury custom homes. Manufactured in England and France, the clay tiles are reminiscent of fairy tale castles of old England. Caroline Storosch, business manager with Northern Roof Tiles, said the company distributes tiles to many companies in the United States that resell them and sells directly to home owners. A 13-year-old company, Northern Roof Tiles' president and founder Stuart Matthews is from England originally and traveled to factories in England and France to find the roof tile manufacturers, Storosch said. The tiles typically land on high-end luxury homes, she said. One such home, a 20,000-square-foot mansion in Cherry Hills is being outfitted with Northern Roof Tiles' tiles, bought through Source Products Group. Pam Harrison, with Harrison Custom Builders, said the owners were looking for a European touch to add to their house. "They want it to look like it belongs on a French countryside," she said. Source Products Groups has been carrying the old-style tiles for the past six months, Wennstedt said. One reason the tiles are an asset in Colorado is they are hearty enough to withstand cold climates, he said. His company has also recently expanded to a new building on its farm-like property and added three new employees to the 20 person staff. In a time when many companies are cutting back, Wennstedt said Source Products Group is poised for growth. Wennstedt said the company has increased its inventory by 25 percent, awaiting a growth in the housing industry. "We've kind of taken the opposite approach than most companies have," he said.
