Shaw Wins Best of NeoCon Gold Award

Dalton, GA, June 30--Shaw Contract's flux systems program has received the Best of NeoCon Gold Award in the broadloom carpet category at the acclaimed interior design show in Chicago recently. flux systems program, designed in collaboration with lauckgroup, a Dallas-based interior architecture firm, is a broadloom carpet collection that introduces large- scale architectural imagery to floor covering with a coordinating modular carpet component. flux beat out 20 other entries to win the Gold Award. flux captures the rhythms of nature, with designs that gradate in color and value from dark to light to dark across the carpet's width -- "carpet without boundaries," Shaw terms it. flux is innovative in its design and use of scale, gradation, and rhythm and is also innovative in that it represents the carpet industry's first systems approach to carpet. "Shaw strives to be an industry leader in a number of areas, including design," said Reesie Duncan, lead designer of flux for Shaw Contract. "We're very proud to receive this award. It further validates our position as innovators in the carpet industry." This is the second year in a row that Shaw has collaborated with lauckgroup to win a NeoCon Gold Award. Last year, the two companies won the Gold Award for Dressed2kill in the modular carpet category. "In the collaborative design-team experience between Shaw and lauckgroup we have set a goal of innovative design leadership in carpet," said Charlie Kane, a designer with lauckgroup. "Carpet can function in ways other than just covering a concrete slab. It should be a design tool. It should enrich the experience of the end user and it should add to the emotional experience of a space. This allows the designer to create compositions of shifting rhythm and color throughout a space." In addition to the modern design, flux upholds the high quality standard Shaw Contract is proud to offer with all its products. The flux patterns are engineered with technologically advanced equipment that provides the highest level of performance in a broadloom carpet or carpet tile, which yields long- term appearance retention and durability. This year's competition included 247 products, entered in 28 products and furnishings categories; 52 Gold and Silver Awards were distributed. The Best of NeoCon Awards are sponsored annually by Facilities Design & Management magazine, Contract magazine, The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc.
