Shaw to Update Hard Surface Lines in 2007
Dalton, GA, December 15, 2006--Shaw’s Hard Surface division will be enhancing its product line in 2007 with a host of new laminate, hardwood and ceramic styles. “We’ve listened to our customers and prepared an extraordinary collection of 2007 introductions that will appeal to a very broad cross section of discerning consumers,” said David Wilkerson, Shaw’s vice president of hard surface marketing. According to Wilkerson, innovative laminates with unique features such as ‘handscraped’ visuals and beveled edges will be added to the existing product line in 2007. Shenandoah provides a distressed and randomly sculpted surface texture in two rustic colorations that provides the look of authentic handscraped hardwood. “We’re also adding a Tigerwood design to our popular Salvador series,” says Wilkerson. An additional new introduction is Plymouth Bay which provides a two strip Chestnut visual that is complemented by an intricate registered embossed surface texture. A favorite of Shaw customers, says Wilkerson, Palm Beach features five exotic colors, including Mandarin Cherry and Australian Rosewood, in 5 7/8 inch wide planks. Its Durashield finish provides superior resistance to abrasive wear and long-term stain protection. Consumers can enjoy the vintage charm of Vicksburg, a rustic handscraped style with hickory veneers and hand-distressed beveled edges. Vicksburg is further enhanced by distinguishing character and chatter marks which give each plank a uniquely distinctive visual. Ventura comes in six earth tone colorations which include Vintage Sage and Aged Merlot. This hand-sculpted introduction will complement traditional or contemporary settings and is protected by Shaw’s DuraShield finish. Other popular colors include Blue Ridge and Paradise Bay. “Exotic hardwoods are also increasingly popular among consumers,” says Wilkerson. In response to this growing demand, Shaw is introducing Tigerwood which is characterized by its yellowish brown heartwood with intricate graining patterns in stripes of dark, reddish brown to black. Its combination of rich hues and color variation provide a visual which accentuates the species. As a companion to this product, Shaw will introduce a solid Brazilian Cherry series which features deep, rich hues, random color variations and intricate graining patterns. Both of these ¾ inch solid hardwoods will be available in 3 5/8 inch and 4 7/8 inch widths. In addition to hard surface introductions, Shaw will launch a series of porcelain tile collections which feature rich, natural stone visuals in a variety of popular sizes. In conjunction with these products, an decorative accent display system that houses Shaw’s recently expanded line-up of natural stone, ceramic, metal and glass accent pieces will be offered to Shaw Ceramic customers. “Our Decorative Accents Carousel display will function as an idea gallery that effectively showcases our extensive product range while greatly facilitating a consumer’s desire to personalize their installation with complementing borders, insets, medallions and accents,” explains Wilkerson.
