Shaw Receives Georgia Environmental Award

Dalton, GA, Oct. 27,2008--Shaw Industries has received a Corporate Environmental Award from the Georgia chapter of the Air and Waste Management Association (AWMA).

The air and waste management award, one of two presented, was accepted by Shaw officials during the chapter’s annual fall conference Oct. 9.

The award is presented annually to Georgia organizations for their work toward reducing the environmental impact of companies within Georgia. It recognizes Shaw’s “deep commitment to sustainability,” according to the Georgia Chapter AWMA Board of Directors.

“Shaw received this award based in part on its embrace of Cradle to Cradle recycling and waste to energy recycling practices,” the board said. “Their efforts to move towards complete sustainability and their work to design innovative solutions and technologies to continue along that path exemplify the goals of the Air and Waste Management Association.”

The award recognizes Shaw’s embrace of cradle-to-cradle design, especially with regard to the company’s EcoWorx, Eco Solution Q and Anso products, as well as its dedication to continuously improving processes to further reduce waste and limit the use of virgin raw materials.
