Shaw Receives EPA Certificate

Dalton, GA, December 22, 2005--Shaw Industries received a certificate from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in recognition of outstanding leadership and personal stewardship in achieving results through cooperative conservation with Bartow County. The certificate was presented to Shaw by Dona DeLeon, EPA Deputy Administrator and Jimmy Palmer, EPA Region 4 Administrator. “The Bartow County Environmental Management System is the model for cooperative conservation in the nation, and the wave of the environmental protection of the future,” said DeLeon. The Bartow County Environmental Management System was profiled in the Conference of Cooperative Conservation. The conference was convened by the White House Council of Environmental Quality with the purpose of strengthening shared governance and citizen stewardship. The conference recognized Bartow County as the Southeast region of Faces and Places of Cooperative Conservation. “The Bartow County Environmental Management System has been hailed nationally,” said Palmer. Within the profile, Shaw was included as being a key partner of Bartow County through the company’s environmental commitments including the Shaw Environmental Management System.
