Shaw Produces Video for Child Abuse Council

Dalton, GA, November 10--In cooperation with the Georgia Department of Education and the Georgia Council on Child Abuse, Shaw Industries has produced the video "Kids Count on You." Produced by Shaw’s media department, the project was requested by Mary Perdue, first lady of Georgia, in an effort to find a means of effectively training mandated reporters statewide. The video was recently presented at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center here. Perdue and her team were drawn to Shaw as the result of a 1996 child-abuse prevention video the company produced for a Dalton-area school system entitled "The Mandated Reporter." That video was created and used to train local school employees to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect.
