Shaw Positions Anso Brand to Reflect Environmental
Dalton, GA, December 7, 2006--Shaw has added green to the traditionally blue Anso nylon brand logo to reflect the post-consumer recycled carpet content and recyclability of Anso nylon carpet. Anso nylon products are composed of Nylon 6, the only carpet that can be recycled back into new carpet repeatedly. Shaw purchased the Anso nylon brand from Honeywell International in 2005, bringing Shaw one step closer to attaining its goal of cradle-to-cradle production. The Anso nylon logo redesign project and commitment to environmental sustainability is entitled “Blue is Green”. “Shaw is dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship throughout the flooring industry,” said Mike Leary, director of Shaw External Fiber Sales & Marketing. “Shaw’s green efforts--especially over the past 10 years--have enabled the conservation, reuse and renewal of materials within our organization. The addition of green to the Anso nylon brand messaging demonstrates this commitment and furthermore enhances the brand’s longstanding reputation for performance, innovation and trust.” The enhanced positioning of the Anso nylon brand is only one initiative under the ongoing company-wide environmental commitment known as the Shaw Green Edge. The Shaw Green Edge, an umbrella term that communicates Shaw’s collective environmental progress, will include the opening of Shaw’s Evergreen Nylon Recycling plant, the only facility in the world capable of recycling Nylon 6 fiber. Shaw’s Evergreen plant will be able to convert as much as 100 million pounds of carpet waste annually, which would otherwise take up critical landfill space. The recyclability of Anso nylon is just one of over 100 environmental initiatives under the Shaw Green Edge. All 2007 Anso nylon products will carry the Shaw Green Edge identification. In addition, new Anso nylon products will carry N6 identification to educate consumers that the products are not only recyclable, but that the carpet contains post-consumer recycled carpet content.
