Shaw Plans To Reopen Dalton Area Plant

Dalton, GA, April 5, 2010--Shaw plans to reopen a Gordon County plant just south of Dalton as part of “Project Renew,” according to the Dalton Daily Citizen.

The Gordon County Board of Commissioners, City of Calhoun and the Development Authority of Gordon County are expected to consider an incentive agreement with Shaw.

The company would spend $32 million to retool the former yarn plant. The money spent would go toward purchasing new equipment. The plant would initially create 175 jobs and if it proves successful another 125 jobs could follow. Shaw Industries would receive real and personal property tax abatements over the next five years. At the end of that time, the company would repay the taxes.
