Shaw Names Environmental Affairs VP

Dalton, GA, August 9, 2007- Shaw Industries has named Richard (Rick) Ramirez vice president of sustainability and environmental affairs.

Ramirez will lead the strategic development and implementation of Shaw’s internal and external sustainability and environmental initiatives, including the Shaw Green Edge.

 

“Rick will work closely with all Shaw business units to communicate our environmental strategy and help implement our initiatives within our operations and with customers, suppliers, community partners, and other stakeholders,” says Hal Long, Shaw’s executive vice president of operations.

 

Ramirez joins Shaw from Celanese Corporation, a global manufacturer of chemicals and performance materials. In his 26 years with Celanese, he held a variety of managerial and executive positions, most recently as vice president in corporate environmental health and safety affairs/global remediation and real estate.


Ramirez has a bachelor’s degree in forensic chemistry from the City University of New York and a master’s degree in occupational health and safety from New York University.
