Shaw Names Creative Director

Dalton, GA, Apr. 27--Shaw Industries has named Kathy Young to the company’s newly created position of creative director. In her new role, Young will be responsible for coordinating creative strategy for Shaw’s residential products division, including carpet and hard surface. Overseeing the company’s creative design department, she will work closely with marketing communications to promote the Shaw branding, merchandising, and retail messages. Young, formerly Shaw’s director of brand licensing, has been with Shaw since the company’s acquisition of Salem Carpets in 1992. She was product manager and marketing director for Salem’s Sutton Carpets, having joined that organization in 1988. During her tenure with Sutton, both before and after the acquisition, Young was responsible for managing the division’s marketing, advertising, and merchandising programs, and she was a key player in the success of the Couture by Sutton collection. “Kathy’s extensive experience makes her uniquely qualified to serve in this position,” says Randy Merritt, Shaw’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “She will help to coordinate our creative talent to drive the Shaw brand dynamically and effectively through every channel that we market our residential products.” Scott Sandlin, vice president of marketing, calls Young a “world class” individual with a positive attitude. “Not only does she bring tremendous talent to our creative department, she has a keen understanding of our customers’ needs.”
