Shaw Intros Second Collection of ClearTouch Styles

Dalton, GA, May 10--In the wake of the company’s successful launch of its ClearTouch PET styles, Shaw is introducing a variety of new products that expands the range of construction options for the innovative fiber system. Included in the new collection are several loop constructions, including a PCU, a linear and a random loop, and a sisal look. Scott Sandlin, vice president of marketing, says that dealer response to ClearTouch has been outstanding. "In Dallas, at our recent Shaw Flooring Alliance (SFA) convention, over 90% of the members in attendance ordered the complete display of our Kathy Ireland ClearTouch styles, and an overwhelming number of total displays, including both the SFA and Philadelphia Carpets ClearTouch programs, have been sold so far this year," Sandlin said. In discussing the new line of ClearTouch styles, Sandlin said, "It’s unusual for us to launch more products into a collection so quickly, but based on the tremendous response from our customers, we wanted to provide even more styling options." The most recent addition to the family of Shaw Fibers, ClearTouch is a filament PET fiber that offers the inherent attributes of polyester as well as exceptional performance characteristics. Further differentiating ClearTouch carpets from conventional PET products is the company’s patented R2x Stain and Soil Resistance System for enhanced protection against spills and tracked-in dirt. "While PET fiber has long been recognized for its inherent stain resistance, Shaw’s R2x system makes ClearTouch carpets the only PET products available that offer such enhanced stain and soil resistance. We haven’t seen anything close to the repellency that R2x and ClearTouch offer," Sandlin said. Sandlin maintains that the ClearTouch filament PET styles are unlike any others in the industry and are the result of superior engineering and craftsmanship. "ClearTouch yarn’s optimum twist and density levels produce carpets of excellence resilience and durability," he said. In a further departure from conventional polyester products, several ClearTouch styles have been created in luster levels and colors that are like nylon in appearance. Greg Scott, director of product development, says the new ClearTouch styles represent a first for Shaw. "We’ve not designed loop styles in PET in the past, and I’m not aware of any others in the market," he says. "Until we developed our ClearTouch yarn system, it simply wasn’t practical." Scott believes the addition of the new styles offers retailers a truly well-rounded collection. In addition to the loop products, the new ClearTouch introductions include a barberpole frieze and texture in the same colorations and a new cable. "I don’t think anyone has seen anything like these styles in PET before, and we look forward to our customers having great success with this collection," Scott says.
