Shaw Hospitality Names Student Design Winners

Dalton, GA, Jan. 12, 2009--Shaw Hospitality Group selected four Fashion Institute of Technology students as the top award winners in the first “The Language of Design Competition.”

“The need for great design never ceases. The FIT winners’ designs reflected fresh ideas and creative thinking,” said Desiree Worsley, Shaw Hospitality Group vice president of marketing.

“This competition provided a unique opportunity to expose the FIT students to careers in pattern design in the flooring industry.”

The competition was judged by key leaders in the design community. Judges were Michael Adams, Hospitality Design Magazine, Thom Filicia, renowned interior designer and expert on television program “Dress My Nest” as well as the author of “Thom Felicia Style”; Teresa Viserious, principal of Viserious Design; Catherine Stein, President of The Color Council; as well as Karen Gentile, Department Chairperson and Assistant Professor of Textile/Surface Design; Deborah Hernandez, FIT Textile/Surface Design adjunct professor; Shaw Hospitality Group Vice President of Marketing Desiree Worsley; and Shaw Hospitality Group Design Manager Pamela Rainey.
The Language of Design Competition winners were as follows:

First Place: Tribal Chic by Alyssa Rossi
Second Place: Rhapsody in Blue by Hyun-Jin Park
Third Place: La Ilusion by Silvia Cruz Palomares
Honorable Mention: Lily Pads by Sunjin Seo

The winning designs will be launched as full collections from Shaw Hospitality Group in the coming months.
