Shaw Honors 63 Graduates of GED Program

Dalton, GA, April 7, 2010--Shaw Industries honored 63 associates who successfully completed the GED Program at Shaw’s 14th Annual GED Recognition Luncheon March 26.

Danny Crutchfield, director of corporate training and organizational development, began the luncheon by applauding the graduates’ efforts and accomplishments of obtaining a GED certificate while maintaining a full-time commitment to their work and family. “We’ll continue to challenge you to keep growing and keep learning,” said Crutchfield.

“An education is something that no one can take away from you. An education opens doors. It provides opportunities in the workplace,” said Shaw CEO Vance Bell. “I’m proud that we invest in our people. If we’re investing in our people, we will be more competitive and more successful.”

The graduates included associates of every age range, each receiving a certificate and a class ring. Shaw President Randy Merritt encouraged the graduates to continue their education with courses at the Shaw Learning Academy or through the company’s partnership with Dalton State College.
